Becoming a Recognized AAU Chapter
Local chapters of AAU are autonomous, and members of AAU chapters do not have to join AAU. However recognized chapters may collect dues for membership, and may purchase voting (supporting) memberships in AAU for their local members who desire them at half the usual amount.
To be recognized as an AAU chapter, groups must appoint a liaison(s) to AAU and submit a charter defining the goals of the group and the geographic area to be served (if any; chapters may also serve occupational or interest groups).
Local groups seeking recognition as chapters must have at least three basic members, and one voting (supporting or sustaining) member. Members of AAU are not automatically members of any local chapters of AAU however, local chapters may have additional membership dues and requirements. Liaisons should subscribe to the general discussion list and any local AAU list for their area.

Religion
In the history of the world, nothing has been the catalyst of more grief, hatred, war, and crime than religion.Religion allows a person to hate, kill, torture, fuel tribalism or steal, while allowing him to recuse himself of all blame.Religion causes people to break the laws of ethics and morality in the name of a god or gods.
Religion dulls the mind and weakens the senses. It makes “God did it” seem like a reasonable answer to anything at all, squelching questions of why,and how,and when, and replacing these questions with repeated mantras and prayers to nobody.
Religion is exquisitely profitable, with most adherents tithing a portion of their income. The churches, synagogues, and mosques, which do little to serve their community outside of “outreach programs” (marketing and recruiting),pay almost no taxes.
Religion spreads like disease through societies, rarely coexisting with pre-existing mythologies, rather preferring to conquer or be conquered. Religion is anything but tolerant.
As Ugandan Atheists,we are not afraid to point out that which is true: religion is ridiculous.Mythology and religion are synonymous, and none is better than another.Religion is malicious, malevolent, and unworthy of respect.
You probably knew that already. You have lived long to know the truth especially when you know the outcome of religious activities.
We’re respectful of the Ugandan People’s individual rights to practice as they see fit(equal to our rights to do the same), but this does not mean we have to respect their decision.
If you choose to ignore logic and knowledge in order to believe in an invisible magic man in the sky,or Santa Claus for that matter, you’ve made a ridiculous decision and we’re not going to pretend it’s “just another way of looking at things”.
We challenge the ethics of the professional liars who claim to speak for gods to bilk parishioners into giving away their money in exchange for an immortality that will never be granted.
We also challenge the ethics of the politicians who use government to further their religious agenda, and vice versa. We will not let anyone’s religion infiltrate our schools, our government, or our pockets, at least not without a good fight.
Atheism, the absence of religion, is the only “ism” that obeys the laws of physics. There is never a “well you have to have faith about that part” in atheism. Nowhere in atheism is there a text that must be obeyed,or a preacher that knows the “one true way”. In atheism, “god did it” is not acceptable, but “I don’t know” is just fine — because it’s the truth.

Why Come Out?
While the reasons for staying in the closet seem valid, the reasons for coming out far outweigh those for hiding.
You are hiding yourself right now. There is a part of you that you’re not allowing other people to know, because of fear of rejection. As a result, those who love you are ignorant of a side of your personality. Would it change their minds about you should they find out? Possibly, but wouldn’t you rather know for sure? Do you really think they’d reject you completely if they knew? In most cases, this is not so. In fact, a huge percentage of atheists I know, all of them, in fact, have at least cordial relationships with those family members who are religious. In all reality, religion is rarely as important as the love of a family member, even to the most pious.
How do you feel about hiding? Don’t you feel that you’re being oppressed for no reason? Do you feel like a second-class citizen, or that your acquaintances think atheism is something of which to be ashamed?
The fact is that there is nothing shameful about atheism. Rather, it should be viewed as a major accomplishment. Most people stick with the religion in which they were raised, never thinking or examining the reasons why. Those that switch religions (or sects of a particular religion) often never truly question the belief in a god. Those that do should be proud that they have searched and reached an educated conclusion, and so should you.
As an atheist, you have broken out of the cycle of doing what you’re told because someone says God says so. You think for yourself, you are self reliant, and you are responsible for your own actions and decisions. Showing yourself is your next great decision.
Supporting AAU
Supporters can start helping right away by spending some time, upfront,to study the site and its action priorities. Every member needs to understand how the AAU is organized to pursue a different manner of activity. This website is the central hub of information.
Whether as volunteers or as donors or both, its we ourselves who will help this Association to grow and progress.
Volunteers can help most when they have thoroughly absorbed the reason and purpose, the aims and principles, the language and strategies, and the communication tacts we use
Donors, too, are always needed and welcome.Busy individuals who have too little time to devote to proactivity can help to sustain the central hub of information and activities. There are several pathways to financially help the Association to serve as a resource for other joining members.
The AAU is a nonprofitable organization. It depends on its members.
NOTE: We can collect membership fees but today membership is free of charge. So join now freely
